Life Has Taught Me...
For Christmas 2007, we asked what words of wisdom should be shared from what life has taught us.
Kris & Mike
She says...
- being a mother is a full time job.
- I am not cut out to be a gourmet chef.
- having social anxiety issues isn’t so uncommon
- taking time away with your spouse is important in a marriage.
- children really are gods gift.
- don’t wear white on pasta night.
- telling lies only lead to bigger lies.
- silence your cell phone when in church.
- be a good listener.
- don’t be afraid to try something outside your comfort zone because you’re afraid of what might happen.
- playing BUNCO once a month is cheap therapy
- you can never have enough pairs of shoes.
He says...
- I would rather be a good Christian that does not go to church regularly than a bad Christian that doesn’t miss a week
- how important my wife and kids are to my happiness.
- throwing a golf club releases a lot of pent up anger. It can also be costly.
- as much as you may try, you cannot please everyone.
- how lucky I am to have a mother-in-law and father-in-law that I love and respect.
- never regret spending time with my children.
- never regret spending time with my wife, as far as she knows.
- life is really short.
- some thoughts are best left private.
- pay attention to how Kristin lives her life – she is the greatest person I have ever known.
- stress sucks.
- great kids usually come from great parents. I know this from the dozens of kids I have coached. We used to draft players based on the quality of the parents, and we were never disappointed in the kid.
- there is no word to describe A.L.S. It’s just really bad -- or sad -- or unfair. Or whatever word just hurts the most.
- you can get the answer to just about anything on Google.
- being a leader doesn’t mean having to yell.
- the only good pizza is in Chicago.
- watching your kids grow up to be respectable, honest, caring young men is maybe my biggest source of pride.
- no matter how good your meatloaf is, I still won’t like it.
- going to spend $65 for a massage always seems like a waste of money – until after the massage.
- tip well.
- it is OK to root for the Cubs
- there’s no such thing as “too chocolatey”
