MAGICAL MOMENT in a minivan!

“No reservation equals no room at the Inn”,
words heard during our westward vacation.
Exhausted, we slept in a Holiday Inn parking lot,
in our minivan.
Mom, Dad, three boys,
a carseat, floor, the back seat.
A rainy, noisy interstate
reminded us of our accommodations.
We remember it with laughter!!!

From our 1998 US tour (otherwise known as the family vacation). We started looking for a hotel near Ogallala, Nebraska, at about 6pm, but they were all full. So we got back on the road heading west, checking in each major town along the way. Finally, we stopped late at night at the Holiday Inn near Cheyenne, Wyoming. The hotel was also full, but we couldn't drive any further. The night manager had compassion on us and gave us permission to stay in our van in the parking lot.

Sometime around 1am, it started to rain - hard. We were so exhausted we just slept through it.

We awoke to a moist and foggy summer morning. When we wiped the mist off of the inside of the windows, we saw that the parking lot around us had filled up overnight with people doing the exact same thing.
